Vital Farms Pasture-Raised Organic Eggs

The amazing crew at Vital Farms has figured out the formula for their girls: the hens get “plenty of salad and exercise”! The eggs are pasture-raised and organic, meaning they are free to roam, munch and play; and every few days the chickens are moved onto a new fresh patch of grass. A study conducted by Mother Earth News in 2007 showed pasture-raised eggs to contain 1/3 cholesterol, 1/4 saturated fat, 2/3 more vitamin A, 2 times omega-3, 3 times vitamin E and 7 times beta carotene than conventionally raised eggs. Not only are the eggs healthier, they taste better too, with a rich, darker yolk and thicker egg white. The darker color of the yolk is indicative of the great health and natural diet of the chickens. There are times of year when supplemental non-GMO feed may be required to nourish the hens, and there might be a trace amount of soy in the feed, but not enough to impact people with soy problems. Vital Farms goes above and beyond to care for their hens as well as the environment.
