EmergenC

Dietary Needs: None

EmergenC  vitamin C comes from ascorbic acid, which is by far the most common type of Vitamin C that you'll find in foods and nutritional supplements like this. Ascorbic acid is the antioxidant protector of vitamin C and not the complete profile. The analogy would be like saying you ate an egg, but really only eating the shell, which is why we much prefer Vitamin-C from food-based sources. It is highly likely that ascorbic acid vitamin C comes from corn. Vitamin C is needed for all connective tissue, which is what holds up and keeps together all other tissues. It is also crucial in collagen production. The ascorbic acid in EmergenC (or ascorbic acid in general) acts as a anti-histamine, reducing swelling and other symptoms of colds which provides a short term gain. EmergenC does provide a non-caffeinated energy boost with 1,000 milligrams of non-acidic Vitamin-C along with B Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 & 12. The body does not absorb vitamins as well from synthesized vitamins vs. food-based vitamins. EmergenC also contains maltodextrin, which could either come from corn or tapioca. It is much better to have maltodextrin come from tapioca, since we already have entirely too much corn in our food supply. Check out Ultima sports recovery powder as an upgrade from EmergenC.
